The Lord of Patterns
EditAppearance
Serifan appears as a middle aged man with mutton chop whiskers. His eyes are green, and his hair is blond. He wears a three piece suit, a watch, fob and chain, and carries a walking stick with him. He often wears a hat, most usually a grey green Ascot. Like so many Victorian men, Serifan has no hips.
EditBase of Operation
London, Victoria.
EditSecondary Titles
Lord of Symbols, Keeper of Books, Angel of the Seventh Station.
EditTransport
Serifan is bound to London, and cannot leave its precincts. However, he can cast a pattern to any place that he knows or is able to target. He can cross planes with this spell.
If that would put him on a plane with an Astral, then he may not leave the pattern.
EditSpecial Abilities
Serifan has three Cloaks of Heroism. These cloaks can be used once an Age to:
- Avoid certain death or harm.
Or
- Reduce the wearer’s current Twilight Point total by one.
The cloaks can be used only once, and then are gone. Serifan has some means to recover these three cloaks.
He has handkerchiefs that may be folded around a secret to keep the secret safer.
He has a great orrery made of brass.
He has a large number of Words of Power. He has been known to grant people (in particular, mortals) one of his Words of Power.
The demesne of his house is the greater city of London.
The British Museum falls within his house borders.
He can issue British Passports and Visas.
He can grant an applicant an account with the Bank of England.
He has a carpet of prophecy. (Apparently, made from the nervous system of a prophet who offended him)
He has a green desk lamp. (Another Immortal who offended him).
He can invoke the Dance of State.
EditCharacter
Serifan is powerfully driven to protect the human race. He is not interested in protecting individuals, and will happily sacrifice them to pursue his ends. He has almost no sympathy for other Immortals, seeing them merely as counters to further or hinder his plans. He will use anyone that owes allegiance to him coldly and ruthlessly. He is careful about his own existence, seeing himself as the human race’s greatest supporter, and he will counter any threat to himself powerfully and remorselessly.
His compassion cannot be engaged, except in regard to the protection of the human race. He thinks swiftly, has powerful spells, and is unafraid of using them.
If he has any fault, Serifan tends to rely on routines. On the other hand, he has so many routines that he can create the appearance of invention. The fact that they are so rehearsed increases their efficiency.
