Find Verjigorm

I’m usure as to who suggested it, but someone suggested that Morphia induce a prophetic dream upon herself with the goal of locating Verjigorm. Eventually, after much discussion she did so, revealing the V was trying to get into Westover via a Dragons lair.

Oberon had some pieces of said dragon, which I divined from within the Astral of Westover, picking up a trace we could follow to the dragons’ lair. Following the trace, lead us over one of the sides of the plane, down the cliff face.

Using various means (namely Morphia’s rope and Oddin’s ladder) we spent a day climbing down the face, found a realatively comfortable spot and rested. The next day, we set off again but after about 1 hour of travel, came across a path. The path headed off on a downward slope and was approximately 5 feet wide. Alias investigated somewhat, but found nothing untoward.

Not wishing the be distracted needlessly, the party continued on its climb, only to come across what we assumed to be the same path, further down. As the path seemed to be travelling in our direction, we made use of it. The path has some odd properties at the point where it reverses. When someone approaches these points, they suddenly reappear heading back the other way on the path below. This turned out to be some weird dragon magic that enabled faster travel.

To cut a long story short, we followed the path to the entrance to the Dragons lair. We mucked around there for a bit, making sure that it was not trapped and ready to kill us all and then moved in, up a short flight of stairs to a set of huge double doors. The double doors were no longer there, having been ripped off their hinges by Verjigorm. Morphia began to notice areas of corrupted Astral space as we moved down the corridor beyond the doors, hugging the right hand wall.

After a few minutes of travel, Oberon noticed a hallway off to our right, which was somehow concealed from the rest of us. We guessed that Verjigorm had not noticed the hallway, so continued on, in search of him. Shortly thereafter, we came upon a great dragon ward.

Alias managed to find a secret path in the ward that we followed, coming out in Westover. Oberon and Morphia noticed that the astral at that point had not been corrupted, and the ward still being in place indicated that Verjigorm was still trying to destroy it, so we headed back, into the most corrupted area of the ward.

The corrupt area was soon found, but to enter it, we had to step off the Ward, and into the corrupted space. In doing so, Alias’s cloud of secrecy was dispelled, leaving several of the party exposed. Fortunately, Verjigorm wasn’t right there when we came though. However, we neglected to resume the party blending and instead moved on. We paid for this, for shortly thereafter Verjigorm, who had the element of surprise, attacked us.

Verjigorm horror marked Alias and Damien, making it easier for him to target them with his spells, and also allowing said spells to bypass their defenses. Oberon, Hyperion and Oddin were all cursed with an anti-miracle pool. And this was just the start. Oberon and Morphia were then trapped in force cage and Verjigorm appeared out of the darkenss, charging at myself.

After much hardship and pain, oh yes, LOTS of pain, we realised how hopelessly outmatched we were. Beau had been reading poetry non-stop as a social attack, Oberon had freed himself and was trying to paralyse Verjigorm. Damien and Alias were still trying to fight despite the horror marks. It was at this point that I called out to Mark, Deaths Champion for the repayment of a favour owed to me.
